GEW is an anchor gathering for business owners and entrepreneurs in and beyond Te Tairāwhiti, coming together each year for a dynamic week-long experience.

This year as part of GEW, Tāiki e! Impact House will also be celebrating our 5th birthday!
This year’s GEW in Te Tairāwhiti embraces the theme, “It takes a Village to Grow a Business,” highlighting the profound impact of community-led initiatives on business growth, entrepreneurship, and innovation. At the heart of this theme is leading with aroha - a deep sense of generosity, creating and sharing the abundance that drives our collective efforts. This GEW, we celebrate the power of community-led growth, where local businesses thrive through the support and collaboration of others. From 18-22 November 2024, Te Tairāwhiti will once again host GEW, a dynamic week of pitch competitions, night market, podcasts, networking events, innovation challenges, and more!
Download the GEW 2024 ProgramGlobal Entrepreneurship Week will kick off on Monday with the launch of the Outdoor Escape Games in the afternoon, offering an exciting way to explore and engage with Tairāwhiti. The evening will feature a vibrant community market: the Village Vibes Market at Treble Court, where every purchase tells a story of local support and entrepreneurial creativity. The market is also a celebration of the 5th birthday of Tāiki e! Impact House, marking five years of impact and innovation in the region.
Tuesday starts off with the STARTING SMART - Your First Steps into Business workshop at TaiTech, perfect for aspiring entrepreneurs looking to build a strong foundation for their ventures. At lunchtime, catch a webinar with economist Shamubeel Eaqub, offering insights into the latest economic trends, followed by the Tairāwhiti Green Innovator Challenge at Tāiki e! in Treble Court, where local innovative tamariki and rangatahi will pitch their eco-friendly ideas. The evening will wrap up with Jingle Bowls at the Gisborne Bowling Club, a fun event combining bowls, networking, and festive cheer for Sole Traders.
Wednesday's highlight will be the Business Speed Dating event at Breakers, hosted by the Tairāwhiti Māori Business Network. This dynamic event offers a unique opportunity for local entrepreneurs to meet, network, and collaborate with like-minded business owners, all in a fast-paced and friendly environment.
On Thursday evening, Haututu Hacklab Open Night in Treble Court invites tech enthusiasts and curious innovators to explore new projects, brainstorm solutions, and dive into the world of maker spaces.
Friday morning kicks off with Unleash Your Inner Entrepreneur: For Aspiring Young Minds at the Mātai Medical Research Institute. This event is crafted to inspire and educate young individuals who are curious about entrepreneurship, with an interactive panel discussion and insights into what it takes to launch ethical ventures that make a positive impact.
